December 6-10

Good morning everybody:

'Tis the season to be jolly....so please don't forget to donate to Navidad sin Frío and the Christmas baskets for AST workers. As a community, we can make a big difference with a small contribution, so let's help out if we can. To all of the parents and students that have already donated, a big Thank You to all!!

We only have two more weeks of class in the 2nd quarter, and therefore, the 1st semester is almost over. It is important that we comply with everything, and keeping our agendas updated will help us wrap up our partial successfully. Please take a look at what we will be doing during the next two weeks...

6th Grade Math
We have finished covering the GCF and the LCM. Three methods were taught for each, and students are free to use the one they feel comfortable with. We will see a few more skills, like what equivalent fractions are and how to find them, as well as simplifying fractions this week.

A test on all the topics in the Fraction Number Theory unit will take place on Tuesday, December 14th. Divisibility rules, factors and multiples, prime and composite numbers, prime factorization, GCF, LCM and simplifying fractions will be included. Students may start reviewing their material with the exercises found in Chapter 3 of the book.

The binder will be checked on Wednesday December 15 for 6-1, 6-2 and 6-3; 6-4 will have theirs checked until Thursday, December 16th. The checklist will be handed out this week so kids can start arranging them.

If students have been absent throughout the quarter, thay might have missing assignments to turn in. Please check Powerschool, and if any M's appear, they must turn in their pending work. If they don't, these M's will then turn to 0's, and their final grade will be affected.

Have a great week!!

Mrs. Hesse
