January 31st - February 4th

Hello everybody:

The ABSH Knowledge Bowl will be taking place this week at the American School. Another chance to show our excellent hosting skills and how proud we feel about being Eagles. Good luck to all!!
Please read the following information.

6th Grade Math
Students were assigned a team project last Wednesday and were randomly assigned a topic about Fraction Number Theory. They already have the instructions and rubric to guide them. This is a very important activity because they will be displaying their work to all MS students in a Math walkthrough in a couple of weeks.

The groups will meet in class, and that's when they should get together to work. Individual duties should be done at home and then put together when they meet in class the next day. Students must comply with their assigned task or materials on a daily basis. Students should not be meeting after school or at somebody's home. If they do, that means that they have not used their class time effciently; therefore, their grade will be affected.

Project is due this week. Presentations will begin on Thursday, February 3rd for 6-3, and Friday, February 4th for the other 3 sections.

Have a great week!!

Mrs. Hesse

January 24-28

Good day to everyone:

The AASCA Music festival is taking place this week in Guatemala...good luck to the AST students who will surely do an outstanding job representing our school.

6th Grade Math
As announced, a quiz on the different skills and concepts covered the last couple of weeks will take place this Tuesday, January 25th. The quiz will include finding equivalent fractions, simplifying fractions, ordering and comparing fractions, and converting improper fractions and mixed numbers. You can find exercises and examples in Chapter 4 of the book, and use several of the links posted to the right that have to do with these topics. Since this is the first evaluation of the quarter, I hope students take the time to actually sit down, review and practice.

Instructions on a group project will be given on Wednesday, I'll keep you posted with more info!!

Have a great week,

Mrs. Hesse
